The Man Who Walked Between The Towers

Later today I’m thrilled to be sharing some of my favorite illustrations from children’s book with you. In the meantime, I thought we were long overdue a story time. This magical book by Mordicai Gerstein (narrated by Jake Gyllenhaal) tells the store of Philippe Petit, the street performer who tightrope walked across the twin towers. It’s a lovely retelling of the story, with gorgeous music by Michael Bacon. It’s also a kind and gentle memorial of the towers and 9/11.

I hope you enjoy watching as much as I did.

(Warning: if you’re afraid of heights like me, some of the scenes in this book trailer – even though they’re just illustrations – might make your stomach do somersaults. Mine did!)

I’d love to hear your impressions. Do you think Philippe was an artist or just crazy?
