I spent an enchanting hour yesterday watching these videos about bookmaking through the ages. This one about medieval manuscript illumination was particularly absorbing. Such attention to detail, such expense, skill and care went into making a single book. Can you imagine? And I love that, as the presenter says, these books were made to last 1,000 years, which they have.
This one from 1947 is equally fascinating, in a Steampunk kind of way. I highly recommend watching them all.
